2013 PROVED TO BE ANOTHER TOUGH YEAR FOR BANDS TO PUSH THROUGH AND GET NOTICED AND 2014 WILL MOST LIKELY BE NO DIFFERENT. There has definitely been a distinct growth in popularity of independent, alternative and new music in general.  More people are going to gigs now than ever, however there are more venues and gigs than before too.  Future Sound Share’s “Ones to Watch in 2014” has filtered through the quantity, to bring you the quality.

TYRANTS have so much potential and it excites me to be able to include them in this list.  They are a young London based band with a growing following, due to a string of strong llve performances.  We have a lot of enthusiasm for Tyrants and wont be happy until their music is heard on a bigger scale.

We have followed this band right from the very start and watched them grow from their former band "Trophys" into their new incarnation as YOUTHBLOOD. It has always been obvious that the talent was there and it was just a case of them trying to find the right sound to suit them. They have moved away from their indie/electro beach pop to a more early 90's shoegaze sound. Make sure you say hi to them at the gig, as you will find i hard to meet nicer blokes.

Empress Of

We came across Empress of when she released a series of colour sample tunes on Youtube back n 2012 .  Every snippet captured a beautiful, deep and tranquil lo fi sound that is a delight to listen to.  Add to this some soft female vocal melodies from Lorely Rodriguez and you have the sound of Empress Of.  We were lucky enough to be at Iceland Airwaves festival a few months back and managed to catch her live show.

It is very hard not to be impressed with Thumpers and their live shows.  We tipped them to have a cracking year last year and can only see things improving.  2014 is going to be a thumper bumper ride for them and we are going to be there every step of the way.

Holly Waker

It feels like Holly Walker has been on our radar for quite some time now, as we first introduced you to her on our July 2012 Playlist.  Back then we featured her track "Modern Life."  As you will discover on the link below, it seems that her sound and voice has evolved to New York soul, than urban London.

We featured SIVU's track "Better Man Than He" in our Feb 2012 playlist and have been watching steady progress ever since.  Maybe 2014 will bring something special

We are big fans of Crushed Beaks beautifully chaotic, wave crashing, melodic 2.5min songs.  Matthew Poile (Guitar, Vocals) and Alex Morris (Drums) are Crushed Beaks, a two-piece who will be recording their debut album in February and we can't wait to hear what the fruits are!

We had to include their song "Sun Dogs" as it is so good. We first featured it nearly 2 years ago on our March 2012 playlist.
