Tsars Interview

How did you come up with the band name?

We toyed with the name 'Tsars' in our early teens, when trying to start a band. After we got together started writing, Tsars just seemed to fit more and more.

What artists and genres have you taken influence or inspiration from to create your sound?

I like to think we all each bring our own influences to the table, ranging from deathcore to 2pac... so i guess the balance and common ground for us is a mixture from all. But Arctic Monkeys, The Maccabees, Bombay Bicycle Club and Foals. All these mentioned bands play a part because we are all listening to their music.

What are your hopes and aspirations for the future?

World War 4/ the apocalypse.

Any up and coming gigs and releases?

We have a show supporting Black Wildes at Heroes Bar in London on the 4th of feb (should be a banging gig) and the Future Sound Showcase on the 17th. As for new material we have a new song that we may release as a single.. and a brand new track that in the near future, will sit alongside others in a new ep

How do you see the music being sold in the future? Where will the bands income come from?

Well at the moment any band income goes to the manager and we have been giving the E.P out for free download for half a year now, so i guess we should move it to itunes soon or something. oh yeah and we're making a hard copy of the E.P with some bonus material so we will be selling that at gigs soon.

If you could go on tour and support a band right now, who would it be?

We would love to support a band from Falmouth in Cornwall called Tall Ships or something like that, they have a cool style and we've been to see them quite a lot. And of course the greats we totally look up to that we take influences from but also like to think we get ahead of them on stuff we do and write.

If you could change one thing or do one thing better what would it be?

I think it would have been better to record the E.P in one go rather than spreading it out over 2 months. to be fair though we were writing the songs as we were recording in a way so it couldn't be helped.

Excluding this interview, what has been the best thing to happen to you since forming?

Having a finished version of our first E.P that we can show off and give to people. And the gig we played at The Good Ship in Kilburn. Played with some wicked bands and got a really good response from the crowd.

What advice would you give new artists?

Guys like Future Sound Share, they have done nothing but good for us. You have to make proper foundations for your band, like good recordings and get your band the sufficient equipment to play in as many places as you can.

Name 3 up and coming bands that are rocking your world at the moment?

Gotye, Tall Ships, Bonobo

If i asked you to provide a nonsensical response to a question that i hadn't even thought of yet, what would your answer be?

The Holocaust.

Thanks for that and anything else you would like to share about your band…..doesn't have to make any sense at all……

Just keep looking out for everything we do and we love to hang out with the people that know us and like our band, so don't feel like you can't approach us and talk to us and hang out at shows.
